Coal Mine Ave. Structure Fire
Posted On: Nov 04, 2018

At 7:44 p.m. on Tuesday October 30, 2018, Local 2086 members were dispatched to a fire alarm activation at 8160 W. Coal Mine Avenue in Jefferson County. The large, newly constructed building is currently unoccupied and there were no visible signs of smoke or fire when Engine 13 arrived. After investigating the interior heavy black smoke was found in a unit on the 2nd floor and full 1st Alarm structure fire response was called. That response brought an additional 2086 members along with members from Local 2164.  Members advanced an attack hose line inside and confirmed the building’s fire sprinkler system activated and controlled the fire. All searches were clear of anyone inside, no injuries occurred, and the fire did not extend. Members worked from inside and outside to extinguish all the remaining hotspots and cleared the scene a short time later. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
