Nevada St. Multi Family Structure Fire
Updated On: Nov 01, 2018

At 10:53 p.m. on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, Local 2083 and 2164 members responded to an apartment fire at 5891 S. Nevada Street in Littleton.

911 callers reported flames and smoke coming from the 3rd floor and roof. Engine and Medic 11 were first on scene and immediately deployed a hose line to control the exterior fire. Members also worked with Littletonn Police Officers to evacuate the building. Within minutes a heavy volume of fire consumed the attic and the roof began to collapse. Once everyone was out of the building a defensive strategy was used and crews battled the flames from the outside.

Aerial ladders were placed on opposite sides of the building and used to spray water from above. After an hour the fire was controlled which allowed crews to cautiously enter the building and extinguish hot spots from the interior. Although 18 apartments were damaged, no injuries occurred. American Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents and Arapahoe Rescue Patrol, Inc. Volunteers assisted members with rehab supplies and equipment clean up. Over a dozen units and approximately 45 fire personnel were on scene.

Investigators determined the cause of the fire was accidental.
