Oak Hill Ct. Brush Fire
Posted On: Sep 20, 2018

At 3:17 p.m. on Tuesday, 911 callers reported a grass fire threatening homes in the 7900 block of South Oak Hill Court in Arapahoe County. First arriving Medic 63 found a ½ acre grass fire that had been mostly extinguished by neighbors with garden hoses and buckets of water. Thankfully no one was injured, no structures were damaged and several crews responded to assist with extinguishing hot spots. The SMFR Fire Marshal’s Office determined that mishandling of embers from a meat smoker caused the fire. With such dry and warm conditions fire danger will remain elevated into next week. This incident is a good reminder to be extra cautious with anything that causes heat, sparks or open flames.
