Feather Grass Structure Fire
Updated On: Jun 09, 2018

At 3:43 p.m. on Friday June 8th, Local 2164 members responded to a house fire 8384 Feather Grass Court in Douglas County. Neighbors called 911 after seeing heavy black smoke and flames coming from the back of the home. First arriving Engine 42 and Medic 42 found heavy fire on the rear of the house extending into the attic of the 1st and 2nd floors. Crews advanced an attack hose line inside to battle the attic fire and also search the home for people possibly inside.... The main body of fire was quickly controlled and all searches of the house were clear. A second attack hose line was used on the exterior to extinguish the siding and areas of the attic space. No injuries occurred but neighbors rescued a dog before firefighters arrived and they transported it to a local animal emergency room for medical treatment. The incident was declared under control within 1 hour and the cause is under investigation. The American Red Cross is assisting the occupants who were displaced. Many of the same Firefighters at this incident also battled an apartment fire near Twenty Mile Road and Mainstreet earlier in the day.
