Greenwood Plaza Commercial Structure Fire

At 04:13 a.m. on Friday May 4th, a newspaper delivery worker discovered a building on fire at 6040 Greenwood Plaza Blvd. When Local 2164 members arrived they observed smoke and fire visible from the side of the structure and the roofline. The flames were quickly controlled with an attack line from the exterior, and then crews searched the building for potential occupants and fire extension. Members confirmed that no one was inside the building, which had a light haze of smoke inside but no fire extension. Extensive overhaul of the exterior walls was needed to expose and extinguish hot spots. By sunrise the fire was out and crews were picking up equipment. No injuries occurred and investigators were on scene working to determine what caused the fire. About 40 personnel from South Metro and Littleton Fire Rescue were on scene.
