At 7:35 a.m. on Friday October 26th, Local 2164 members responded to a plane crash south of Lincoln Avenue just east of I-25 in Lone Tree. When members arrived, they found a small, single engine plane in the open space with no fire or smoke visible. The pilot and passenger safely exited the aircraft and were not injured but they were double checked by South Metro Fire Paramedics. Specially trained firefighters from SMFR’s Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Team were on scene with “Red 3” a 4x4 fire engine designed for off-road situations like this one. They checked the scene for hazards and secured the aircraft before leaving the scene. Lone Tree Police will remain on scene awaiting the arrival of NTSB who will determine the cause of the accident.
